I recently purchased a book on itunes, incorrectly assuming it would just open and be readable straight away. It is an .epub file an I don't really know how to open it. I've downloaded Adobe Digital Editions and it sort of opens the file (the list of contents is displayed in the side panel) but with no content in the main window. Can anyone sugest a way to read the file? I'm using a pc with windows.

Calibre handles most things. Or transfer it to your iSomething and read it in iBook.

Thanks for the suggestions Bushfiva, I've tried Calibre but that won't open it either - it gives the message that "This book is locked by DRM". Unfortunately I don't have an e-book reader or an i-anything, that's why I'm stuck trying to read it on a pc.

There are stand-alone and Calibre-based things out there that Google might find for you.

Try Sigil: sigil - The EPUB Editor - Google Project Hosting (http://code.google.com/p/sigil/)

He doesn't need an editor, he needs a Fairplay remover.

Goodeffinggrief. You read that he's got a Fairplay-encumbered file, right?

I've simply told him what he needs to use to read an epub document, which is what he asked.
I'm not going to tell him how to break DRM encryption. If you want to get so hot under the collar, why don't you tell him? Just don't do it on the site
