Asiana interview process

The format is a medical, an interview, a sim check and the Korean air law exam.

Interview was easy, just a relaxed chat with one of the HR guys. The sim was reasonably straightforward, usual engine fire/failure, etc and a circling approach at RKPK.

For the Air Law exam, the recruiter will give you sample questions and the air law material to study. The exam itself is very strange, it's a bit of a lottery to be honest. However, if you spend two or three weeks revising, you will probably pass.

Roster. You will fly maybe 60-70 hours a month but you go to work for maybe 20-22 days every month.

Layovers. After passing your line check, you will begin to see the number of layovers increasing. Nightstops include, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Saigon, Hanoi, Manila, Cebu, Clark, Kota Kinabalu, Saipan, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hiroshima, Tokyo, Osaka and a few domestic ones in Jeju, Cheongu, Busan.

Any further questions, please feel free to ask.

That's incredibly hectic. The flying hours aren't bad but the "man days" are crazy.

Yes, some days you will only log 2 or 3 hours. Other days e.g. a trip to Phnom Penh, you will leave on the evening of days 1, arrive in PP around midnight (5 hour leg), and depart 25 hours later for the return leg. Therefore that's 3 days of duty and 10 hours logged.

Then again you may get a round trip to HKG...7.5 hours logged.

Skindogg, is this on a commuting roster? Does Asiana offer a commuting contract?

The contract says 16 days off every two months, including 8 consecutive days off every 2nd month. So for example, Month one you will have 5 hard days off, plus a few extra to keep you legal, plus a few standbys. Month two, you will have 8 days off in a row which you can use to go home, using the 8 free (you pax the taxes) tickets, plus 3 or so extra days off, to keep you legal.
Therefore, it normally works out that you get more than 16 days off over the 2 month period.

Hope this helps.:ok:

Skindogg,

Is the sim assessment held on the A320? Raw data? 2nd chance if you fail something? Ils+visual? EO appr?

And the medical exam? Is it an astronaut look like exam? Or a simple JAA medical class 1 exam?

Thanks for your helpful information!
