Does anybody have any info on this conversion? Easy or tough? What is the Authority down there?

If you have to take a test it will be based on the FAA system, but expect a % on local regulations.

BTW try to log up the regs online, they maybe be posted..

Things are better than they used to be, but because of the history and experience of personnel there you may run into some bizarre interpretations and ideas. Allow yourself plenty of time for the licence conversion. They are very bureaucratic at INAC.

Of course, you will need to do a Medical in Nicaragua; expect it to be more involved than the FAA one and they will check things that no other examiners (well, maybe the Far East ones) do.

I am not up to date but you should expect pretty much everything (like the written exam) to be in Spanish. It used to be (and probably still is) based on the FAA written, translated into Spanish. INAC does not publish the bank of questions but you can take alook at the Salvadoran or Guatemalan authority's website for samples. Most likely the same questions.

I see you are a fling-wing guy, and so it makes me wonder what your plans are in Nicaragua.

I also suggest you get in touch with Marlon Duarte. He is a TACA pilot, runs a flight school at the Los Brasiles Airport. As such, he has a working relationship with INAC, and seems to know where the traps are. He could save you alot of time, money and frustration:

It is for oil rig related work. Good thing I can understand a lot of Spanish, not everything, but a good amount. Thanks!
