Medicals and Booking times

Hello there,
I'm going to have to book a class one medical sometime this month to go and get me a nice shiny PPL!
I was just wondering if there's any kind of waiting time from the point where you book to when u get checked over.

Is it a book one week, get checked out the next type jobbie or do you have to wait some time? If so, how long is it usually?

My appointment was 4 weeks from the date of my phone call - I think this is about normal, but you maybe lucky and get one earlier.
