Hi Folks,

I wonder if anyone could give me some help here please ?

My partner has an Assessment Day booked with Thomson for a Cabin Crew job and is a little worried about what is actually involved.

She has 2 years Cabin Crew experience with a foreign airline but that was 3 years ago.

If anyone could give me a little advice on what she can expect I would be really grateful (as she really has her heart set on this job).

The email that Thomson send with the invite to the assessment day states exactly what will happen :)

Maybe, but having read said email a few times it is a little vague in detail.

Product Test ??....Case Study ??....Forgive me for being stupid, but I work in the aviation world and I have no idea what either of these are or involve ?? :ugh:

The product test is based of company knowledge. There is a detailed presentation about Thomson and TUI at the beginning of the day. Pay attention!

The case study is a role play of a situation you could face onboard.

Many thanks for that, she has been studying about Thomson for the past few weeks and living and breathing facts and figures. Now I can explain to her what a case study is, so at least she knows what to expect.

She's flying over from her home country just for this interview so is obviously a little worried about everything going well.

the product test, is group work but based around TUI UK&I product. Last year for example it was four families, four products match them and present your reasons why. It isn't about getting it right either, its a chance for the recruiters (who are cabin crew service trainers, so potentially her new colleagues) to see how she works in a group situation. Tips her are not too be a shrinking violet but no diva here either! It's CRM in the making....

there will be a test which involves currency conversions.... two beers 6.60 - exchange rate of 1.5 for euros, how much is that? if they give you 20euro note how much change do they get in sterling etc....

there is a presentation at the start... PAY ATTENTION is wise advice as there will be questions.... name a feature of the 787, environmentally friendly etc....

there will be a role play - about a potential situation on board such as paps separated.... important note here again is, its not about getting it right, it is more about the willingness to try and how you interact with customers.... kneel down and make eye contact if they are seated... let them talk....

then a 2:1 interview.... one lead and one note taker...

hope that helps, good luck. I am CC for TOM and despite the unrest I can appreciate it is a good (and well paid as far as CC jobs go these days)

no probs! the service trainers are a nice bunch of people, tell her to relax and if it is meant for her it won't pass her by! Good luck

Hello, I too received an email invitation to an assessment, this one is at Bournemouth. I have heard a number of airlines who take on frozen ATPL pilots as Cabin Crew with the aim of internally recruiting them a year or 18 months after to a First Officer position. Does anyone know of this kind of setup within Thomson? Or to the contrary?

Thanks!

CC and pilot recruitment is handled seperately. I know of a few pilots at Thomson who have gone down this route. But there's no official channel.
