Hotel & bar owners between UK and Cyprus were left disappointed last week when 16 Sqn planned to launch 8 jets to Cyprus on detachment and did so successfully. Med bar owners and Hotelliers were used to the mighty F3 fleet planning to send 8, taxi 7, launch 6, 5 get past France, 4 get past Greece, when they land at Akrotiri only 3 are serviceable. Come on lads why not admit it, the Jag is a mighty beast. Scrap the F3 and keep the Jag as a fighter. At least it will get airborne.

Thanks to the curvature of the Earth!

The Jag would make an adequate fast-jet trainer, the F3 would make an interesting feature for Jeremy Paxman's garden, the GR variants were handy for the Cold War, the Harrier would suffice for battlefield support, the J-model would be good for Tac lift, if it worked, the C-17 would be good for Strat lift if it was faster, good for Tac ops if we could use it for that, the Tri* would be good for dog food cans, the VC10 would be awesome if we referred to it in the past tense, the Nimrod would be surprising to see returned as the 2000 version, the AWACS could fulfil its potential if there was more for it to control and we're probably the only 3rd world airforce without F-16s!

And Relax.....
