Evening all,

I'm in the market for a new pair of prescription sunglasses. I'm planning to use the glasses both at the sharp end of an airliner and in light GA aircraft.

I found a company in the UK called MILE HIGH who specialise in pilot's sunglasses. I believe they sell through the major pilot shops such as Transair.

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of using these glasses, especially prescription ones an in particular the AVIATE model.

Any info/opinions much appreciated.

Safe flying,
Cheers

Hi SSB

Make sure you DON'T get polarising lenses as they lead to optical interference with the heated windscreen on an airliner. I got a second tinted pair from Optical Express and they work just fine.

Regarding photo chromatic lenses they also do not, in my experience, work on an airliner as there isn't enough UV, thankfully(!), to trigger the darkening process.
