You won't be able to get ATC on a normal FM radio - all voice frequencies are between 118.00 MHz and 136.000 Mhz, and radios usually only go up to 108.00. You might be able to tune into some NDB radio aids on your MW/LW if you like listening to morse.

Unless you have a scanner, in which case listening to the police is a lot more interesting :)

But search for threads about significant unauthorised transmissions on ATC freqs in the MAN area recently, and you might appreciate why it is less than desirable to give out this info too freely.

Further to Affirmbest - if you do acquire a scanner then the best frequencies for Manchester are :

Ground 121.85
Tower 118.62 / 121.97
Radar 119.4
Director 121.35

various area controls 124.2 / 126.65 / 118.05

"After V1, we'll take the emergency into the air - You call 'Positive Climb' and I'll ask for the gear up. We'll climb away at V2 +15"
