I hear from an ex coleegue that Air China cargo is getting Cathays 8 X 777Fs. Starting late 2013. Anyone in CX or ACC with any info?

Actually Shunting, Air China Cargo did have 748Fs on order, but you are correct, CA (Air China) did not. They are two different airlines with different ICAO and IATA codes.

Of course sell them.......as there's no money in freight!

Was this not covered in the freight forum section? Cx getting additonal -8F in exchange for 777. This has been on the street for a month, where have you been? All subject to official announcement of course.....................wah!

Thanks GHE, I did not read it in freight dogs. Can you show it to me?

I still see that CX cargo has 8 x 777 in their future projections starting in 2013. So does Boeing. So I was just asking where the truth lies.

Thanks, and apologies for being new at this.

I am aware of a particular agency that has been asked to see whether 777 rated pilots would be interested in Cargo. They already have sent guys to interview for the pax fleet in Air China.

The say aircraft will be arriving from 2013-1015

Thank you.

That answers my question. So it does seem that the 777Fs are being transferred to Air China Cargo from Cathay Cargo.

I hope the CX pilots are not too upset, or will they end up with all the 747-8Fs that ACC had on order?

Any thoughts anyone?

I think many of the CX pilots will be very happy!!

Best news for the 777 guys. A freighter would have been used to destroy any chance of a commuter roster.

Bill,

Very sensible post on both ends. I agree.

"shove off all cargo"?

You are kidding, right?

That old lemon of "there's no money in freight" again?

Please.

Maybe it IS true..? I know, the incredulous laughter from FedEx, UPS, DHL and others drowned out the END of the sentence! Here it is, unabridged:

"There's no money in freight...FOR YOU!"

I think it's everywhere that cargo is not doing as well as foreseen in pre 2008 projections.

But CX/ACC is probably doing as good as, if not better than the China Cargo/C Southern/Great Wall JV.

The potential in China is huge, better to be on the Cathay/Air China side of the fence. If anything is sure about China, it's better to be on the side of the powers that be, than not.

It looks like Cathay will have the 747-8 fleet, and ACC the 777F fleet while retaining a nominal number of 747-400F's/747-8's.

Agreed Capt U pants, there's loads a $$$$ in freight. FedEx UPS etc. say no more.

Well good luck to ACC in persuading 777 guys to go there.

I know CA is finding it hard to get rated pilots. They've already selected some ex Jade 744 pilots for an NTR program. But only a handful are available.

The rated pilots just don't exist in the numbers required according to most data bases.

Maybe CX will fly the planes after all
