Class 1 in Dublin

Is it possible for a student training in Northern Ireland to get a class one from the IAA in Dublin without having to go to the CAA at Gatwick. In theory its a JAA licence and a JAA medical so in practice does it matter if the CAA issue the licence and the IAA the medical. Oh no i think live gone cross eyed.
