EASA Part-66 B1.1 to CASA

Hey Guys,

Soon I will complete all my modules for B1.1 in an EASA Part-147 MTO, but I am planning to work in Australia. So here are my questions:

What do I have to do, to convert my EASA license to CASA or can I just work with EASA license?

After graduation I need 2 years of experience in maintenance organisation, does experience outside EU count or do I have to get the experience in EASA Part-145 organisation?

Lets say everything went smooth and I now have CASA license, can I also hold my EASA license?

I don't want to ruin your day, but I'm pretty sure CASA will not simply recognise your modules.
I'm also pretty sure EASA want you to get EU experience to gain your licence.

Get your EASA licence, once you have that you will have to do CTC exams in OZ to have it converted to a CASA licence. That's the easiest way.....
(although maybe these days they want you to do RPL-recognition prior to learning, i.e. go to a recognised aviation school, let them assess your licence/experience (=$$), and they will let you know what modules you have to do again (=more $$$) to get EASA converted)

In OZ I believe they do 4 years apprenticeships.

The only way you can convert from EASA to CASA is if you hold a type on your company authorisation for at least 6 months. So if you hold say 5 different types on your EASA license but only one on your company authorisation then CASA are only interested in what you are recent on i.e. what is printed on your company authorisation.
If you have no types on your company authorisation then there would be nothing to convert. Pretty crappy but I'm afraid that's how it is!!

Miles could you please post any link confirming your info about that new CAA notice. I am about to finish my B 1.1 modules in part 147 organization in UK and I am not planing to stay in this country for another few years. I thought that experience from any other EASA part 145 (It doesn't matter in which country) counts towards obtaining the license.

While I like your ambition why not try finishing one licence getting some experience before you move on.

Lets say I work in one of these companies, then I shouldnt have any problems with my license, right ?
