So after 10 years at CX I have finally decided to post.

It seems to me, and I am sure to most others, that bases are coming to an end. The last pilot auditorium sessions' Q&A make that clear to me. "Temp bases extremely unlikely to to return...and to not say that bases will NOT be closed in the future..."

One can only guess (and I have a good guess) why they won't just come out and say it...No more bases.

I had to shake my head at the political answer to the question of whose head would roll in lieu of the "On Shoring" fiasco.
Answer the question John !
Reminds me of the "broccoli" answers in the Crewnews prior to the 49ers. Anyone remember those?

I remember. Was discussing these with a newer FO the other day.

They were good, but management got tired of having the pi55 taken out of them and couldn't respond, so they refused to participate.

Basing a review is complete. Apparently we are not going to b happy. Will be interesting to read the inevitable NTC when it's published.

In what way will we not be happy?

1. No more base slots ever (current ones to wither on the vine)

2. Base slots available but with a clause (get one as F/O but if you come back for command it will be on local terms)

3. All bases to be closed.

What is it? and how will it effect future recruitment and current pilots commitment?

Top Gun??? That's appropriate since we are all "flying rubber dog**** outta Hong Kong."

You have to know that there was a Top Gun film made in the first place.

could someone PLEASE explain to me why temp basings had to be cancelled. All sorts of companies do a similar thing for their employees around the world. There should be no jeopardy involving a short stay in any country.

another word, tax!

There should be no jeopardy involving a short stay in any country.

We were asked to cover a european station not so long ago, outsourced, as they didn't have enough qualified people. It was all set up ready to go, then it was pointed out that we would be liable to pay local tax, suffice to say it didn't happen. :=
