Passenger lands plane at Dublin airport | World news | guardian.co.uk (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/nov/20/passenger-lands-plane-dublin-airport?mobile-redirect=false)

I saw this article this morning.

Nice story, apart from the fact your header is 100% wrong. The off-duty pilot didn't land anything, and why would he when the skipper is still occupying the LH seat?

There's a much longer running thread here. (http://www.pprune.org/spectators-balcony-spotters-corner/500914-hero-passenger-helps-land-plane.html)

Well, it's not his line, is it?

That's the witless headline in the Grauniad.

As someone said just named the header on here from the article in the paper..

I would have expected the OP to have actually read the article before posting here with a misleading header. Plenty of clues the off-duty pilot did not handle the controls ...

As he said its the title of the article.... :ugh:

Not really that difficult to understand.

the man who stepped in was fully licensed to operate and fly the 747

A bit different to a Dad leaving his wife and kids in the back and with no flying experience offering to be Mr super Hero and landing a 747 :ugh:

Non event with media hunting for a headline
