My company is currently undertaking a review of roster notice in conjunction with BALPA due to difficulties in producing rosters to the present time schedule.I would be very interested to hear what time scale other operators in the industry work to and do they keep to the agreed notice period if any.

My next roster ( for the period 01 may-31 may), will be published at 1800hr on the 16th April, ie 2 weeks before it starts.

Sometimes it turns up a day or two early but as far as i can remember never later than that.

According to our scheduling agreement at Airtours, monthly rosters for the following month are supposed to be issued on the first of the month.
In practice it has never happened and rosters generally appear some time between the 14-22 of the month. The new management target is the 14th, which was achieved last month.
This gives 2 to 6 weeks notice, to plan your life. However roster changes can make a mess of the plans!
(I got a rewritten roster a week later!)
A revolving roster, whereby you are given the new end week i.e. say week six, on a weekly basis, preferably by e-mail would offer increased flexibility (& hopefully greater stability) to companies and more notice to staff.
Any rosters out there care to comment?

I work for an airline, as contract tech crew, flying internationally.

My contract over the last couple of years included a clause requiring rosters to be published 14 days in advance, and 'change of base' notifications to be out 10 days ahead of time.

The company rostering people couldn't keep up/remember to do these things, or simply couldn't be bothered and tried to intimidate us into doing it anyway, and were forced to pay a small allowance to us, via our crewing agent, who was not happy with paying us the extra either, as they had to justify it to the company.

Then they fixed the problem, they deleted the clause from the new contracts.
Now they just simply do what they like!
Now I normally say 'Cheers' - but I won't!

At my company, rosters are issued on a monthly basis, due by the 20th for the following month. Never got it late, if the 20th happens to be on a weekend, it might already be out by the 18th.
Since almost one year now it is sent by e-mail, making it easy to retrieve anywhere.
