I need to convert my ICAO CPL/IR to JAA. Anyone recommend the cheapest/bestest places to do the ME IR?
Is an ME IR done in Spain fully cool for the UK?
Any help appreciated guys. :D

cheers, smithy.

Smithy,

The 1st thing to do would be to download the official list of CAA-approved FTOs (30 June 2001 edition), which you find here : www.srg.caa.co.uk/documents/srg_fcl_ApprovedFTOs.pdf (http://www.srg.caa.co.uk/documents/srg_fcl_ApprovedFTOs.pdf)

The FTOs web addresses are also included in this document, check all of them & compare hourly rates. A few examples :

MECR (6h ME + test) courses range from £1,426 (Wycombe Air Centre) to £2,195 (Duchess, Pro Air Training)

Hourly rates for the JAA MEIR course range from £210 (Wycombe Air Centre) & £245 (Seneca, Aeros) to £ £350 (Bristol Flying Centre) & £355 (SFT).

As for the full MEIR approved course which U're likely to need, expect to pay £13,235 @ big places like OATS & Crabair. If U elect to do that @ smaller flight school, it will reduce the cost significantly : to my knowledge, the cheapest around is still Stapleford, which charges £8,440.
