Maybe they will take over JAL former training center in Napa, CAlifornia?

It is only for Taiwanese right or will it be international?

I believe the article said it was to train EVA cadets. EVA has a program where they pay to train young recent college grads who plan a career as pilots. They sign on for I believe a 20 year stint if they make the grade, after 18 months of intensive training. China Airlines of Taiwan has a similar program and may well even use this new EVA training school.

They did say that they may open up the school to train cadets for other airlines as well.

It could be a whole new angle for EVA. Since they have big jet simulators in Taiwan (and I believe they are getting an A320 sim as well) , they could take a fresh grad from PPL all the way to big jet copilot along with a bunch of hours.

IF it is a success for themselves, and its a success for contracted airlines, they could even open it up to the general public even?

What is interesting is that EVA is taking on the first of many A320 series. These planes will replace MD90s they and their subsidiary Uni Air currently have.
