Hi,
I am hoping to embark on training to become a commercial pilot in the near future. I had one kidney removed when I was a baby and I was wondering if anyone on here knows if this would in any way prevent me from obtaining a JAA Class 1 Medical?
Many thanks

Mate had one removed after a nasty accident. He got his Class One back after he had recovered.
Phone the CAA for guidance.

Can't give you the definative answer, but am struggling to find any physiological answer why you shouldn't pass.
When you find out, please let us know for future reference.:)

I donated a kidney back in July and got my class one back last month without any fuss. The only difference I can see between us is that you have not passed your initial class one which might be an issue although I cannot see why it should be. Good luck in your application.

A friend of mine lost a kidney after he bailed out of a Voodoo. He completed his career in the air force and recently retired after a career in the airlines. He had no problems maintaining his class 1 certificate.
