So I'm passing through security at Mumbai tonight, and in front of me in the line is a Captain, Airline unknown, but in uniform and with his crew tabbing along behind him. He's got a 787 Dreamliner promo ribbon round his neck with his ID hanging off it.

"I didn't realise any 78's are flying in India yet" I said. "What are they like?".

"They're not flying in India" said the Captain. "It's a terrible aircraft, constant problems, they spend all their time on the ground being fixed."

And with that he pushed his flight bag and hat through the x-ray machine and headed through to airside.

I've not heard anyone say this before. Is it true? Did Indian airlines get a bad batch? Is he just disgruntled?

Apart from the well reported engine problems...

Door won't close? (http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2012-10-10/news/34363592_1_dreamliners-cargo-door-inlet-panel)

rcsa, just because he had a ribbon around his neck doesn't mean he was flying on or there was one where you were. He could have bought it in a souvenir shop or it was given to him at some trade show.

.. thanks, buddy; I should've been clearer - he was wearing full Captain's uniform, with airline ID round his neck and a cap with lots of braid; behind him was a young FO and a bevvy of beauties, deferring to him charmingly.

I think he was legit...

Turin, yes, well noted, thanks.

This should probably be moved to the anorak thread, to be honest. Thanks

Flew it recently as a passenger and yes it was seriously delayed inbound due to tech trouble at previous station. Will not name and shame the airline but they were so embarassed they kept us waiting at the gate over an hour with no announcement as they did not want to broadcast the reason for the delay.
Nevertheless, yes it was a dream to fly (as a passenger :D)

Is it another airline that cannot be named?
