Metar and taf. True north?

Just trying to remember, and if I'm not wrong, the wind directions that are on the metar and TAF, are those true? And ATIS, and tower reported wind on the other hand are magnetic.

This right?

Do you guys actually convert to magnetic to give yourself an idea?

Remember, what the met man tells you is true!

From an understanding perspective, most forecasts and reports issued by the met department, cover wide areas where use of specific variation values would be impractical.
Tower reports are for a more localised area where wind reports in relation to the runway directions are far more useful. :ok:

Worth bearing in mind, I suppose, but in Europe the difference between true and magnetic north is probably less than the difference between METAR wind and actual wind you will experience on approach. ;)
