PDF report on the transportation away from a flare-up by bambi bucket of a forward fire observer.
I'm interested in discussing the use of helicopters for "rescues" beyond their role.
In particular the predicament news helicopters ocasionally find themsleves in whilst filming natural disasters. I refer to the floods in Queensland Australia where news helicopters were able to photograph people who were trapped but were unable to effect a rescue.
If helicopters are to be regularly tasked into the depths of natural disasters should they be bound to be able to effect an extraction or offer other life support?
