UPS / Starair

Just heard, that UPS / Star Air is returning four 727 Freighters from Cologne EDDK back to the US. Anybody who can confirm that?:( :(

Yes it is true. 4 B727 is being replaced by 4 B757.

Rumours are, that Starair won't get their contract renewed.
The 727s back to the states and if Starair still wants to do busines with UPS, it has to be as a subcontractor with own planes.

So what is the total # and type of airplanes Star will be operating, and does anybody think that they will purchase their own airplanes?

Yep star will be there to maintain the deal, heard tonight they may be getting $£$£ support to co-purchase 6 B757 and 2 B767 with an Irish company called Air Contractors who also had 6 B727s for Freight companies but got 2 now as well as 3 A300 for Frenchpost, Atr42/72 with Falcon and Fedex in spain and Herc for Fedex/Un. Hear A310s coming soon for Acl who in fact owned by Safair in South Africa.

Hi,
rumours about the 727 in StarAir are true. The phase out will
be finished by January 2004 :{ . Everything else is really
only rumour since negotiations are in progress and nothing
is yet determined. Fact is that the contract between UPS and
StarAir runs out this year. StarAir is looking for a new 5 years
contract operating a 767 fleet within Europe :E .
Results of the negotiations with UPS or a new contract will come
out this July.

Lets face it its a total travesty of justice that UPS are able to operate so many N reg aircraft on inter EU routes. All their freight should go on OY reg (or any other EU reg is good). Its pretty hipocritical (spelling) of them to complain about DHL owning a US airline when they just flood europe with n reg 75 and 76's.:mad:

So why is it being allowed, and who makes these decisions? Can anybody shed light on these agreements and how they work?

is it only the 767's that are N reg?-the 757/727's that we see are all OY, and then there is the channex A300

Doesn't Bluebird Cargo http://www.bluebirdcargo.com/ fly UPS stuff as well? As far as I know, UPS does not operate their own airplanes to Iceland.

I have a feeling that's also the reason UPS made a big purchase of A-300's. I guess there are many shades of grey tied to this topic.
