Lying down and feeling bad I'd guess.

Hope they don't need to put the pax up in hotels - no room at the inn. All available rooms in Darwin taken by (non paying) "guests" of the Australian taxpayer, a.k.a. asylum seekers. A.k.a. country shoppers.

Flight Radar shows QFA1 climbing through 8,000' now out of Darwin west bound.

One hour stop in Darwin with passenger and baggage removed.

LHR service delayed by 1.5 hours.

Great outcome for all.

Lol. Not sure the person who had the heart attack and now finds themselves in Darwin would agree. :ok:

A 1 hour turnround for an A380, operating into an airport never before used, with absolute pressure due to a medical emergency- when you think about it that was a hell of a good performance on behalf of the qantas crew and airport staff, ATC and certainly the emergency services. Having been the subject of a similar experience myself some years ago (artery blockage resulting in a pan pan priority landing on an asian carrier into HKG- trust me the experience was not pleasant and not organised) I'm glad the person involved received such good care by the people involved.

Quite often I hear flights requesting diversions due to onboard medical emergencies. A few months ago there were two in one night.

I could think of worse places for the A380 to land just a bit further on route although not good the patient had a Heart attack in the first place.

Agree re good turnaround.

Would be interesting to see where they parked it.

Should have been Bay 1 (only).

Taxi is via B2 or the runway.

Keg - a good outcome for the patient in that they're still in Australia, and in a large city with good medical facilities...

Out of curiosity, what are the A380 approved airports further up? Anything other than Bali and BSB?

Company approved - a mix of Alternate/Emergency:
Bali, Jakarta, Batam, Singapore & KL. (not BSB)

Are you for real?
What's the big deal here for you?
What do you think professional airline pilots get paid for?

No big deal for the pilots at all. I don't think any of them would say that!

Pretty big deal for staff at Darwin though.:ooh:

Job well done. :ok:

A 1 hour unscheduled turn round for a dash 8 would be an acomplishment.

Its not the pilots dude, our bit is easy, its all the rest of the carry on.

I'm pretty sure there is only one person in Darwin qualified to open/close baggage doors, drive the tug and complete some of the other duties associated with a turn around, if he wasn't on duty then they had to find him and get him to work.

A few checked and sets from Amos's professional pilots and theyre on the their way.

Sounds like some one lives in a "cockpit bubble" good effort guys.
