Hi,

I originally had Scoliosis which I had surgery for 10 years ago, on applying for my class 2 medical, everything was fine, and I was told if I wanted should have no problems getting a class 1 medical.

Despite having surgery i'm very active with regular rock climbing, surfing, coasteering, hiking to name a few.

However, recently on applying for a class 1 medical, they requested my history notes, on the whole 10 years worth of history there was one reference to Neurofibromatosis which is what is currently causing the problem.

The conditions to cause the diagnosis of the Neurofibromatosis is:

1. Scoliosis
2. 6 or more café-au-lait spots

Has anyone got any experience of this? It seems from talking to the CAA that it's an unusual case for them. It's taken around 6 months so far since my medical with no answer.
Looking forward to your help / answers.
