Back in the Sixties the RAAF awarded 40 flying scholarships in Australia per year to selected Air Training Corps cadets. For example seven scholarships went to NSW, seven to Victoria etc. The RAAF decided which flying schools or aero clubs got the nod to train the cadets. The scholarships covered 40 hours of flying. Eventually that was reduced to each state ATC HQ awarding 10 hours to selected ATC cadets.

Rather than spend money on aviation degrees/diplomas for a couple of students, GAPAN should consider spreading its money around to offer flying training for ten hours per candidate with the number of candidates depending how much GAPAN can afford. Just a thought.
