Anyone know if there are (or have ever been) any 'Paris Jets' in Autralia?

If not how do you go about importing a vintage aircraft? Any information appreciated.

Cheers, HH.:ok:

Hi HH,

If you are looking for one to buy, I taxied past one at Le Bourget (Paris) last night and we are parked 3 aircraft down from it.

I'm departing today and could get out there early to find out who owns it and try to get some owner contact details from our handler. I could take some photos as well (assuming it is still there that is).

John Travolta has/had one.

Cheers,

Amiri01

Thanks Amiri, there seem to be plenty around the World for sale. Really keen to know if any have been operated in Australia. For the most part they look pretty cheap to buy, but expect they are more than likely giant money pits (but aren't all aircraft). Still it doen't hurt to look!:ok:

Yes have seen that one Ovation!;)

Does anyone know how they fare with regard to noise regulations being a 50 year old turbojet?

First generation jet, a bit like a MIG 15, and probably as costly on a logarithmatic basis. Made in the same place who's economy is based on white flag sales and just plain ugly. Can only be flown by those with more Euro's than most of my socio economic peers and, that part of the World has Germany and a Carbon Tax to base it's economic recovery on. Strewth!

Bugga it all, a bit more on initial investment will save you heaps if you buy a functional Cessna Citation Mustang or TBM 850. (yes, yes I know, a french job but with modern metals and wires).

But what would I know, ask CASA.

Why a ParisJet?

I reckon these look so much better

Vintage? they are still selling them aren't they? :O

MS760 Sales (http://ms760.com/)

I'll post some pics tonight that I took of one at Oshkosh a couple of years ago, it looks as good as new and at the time I assumed that it was. The canopy arrangement felt like a jet powered RV, not something that zoomed along at up to 30,000+ feet!

XXX, MS760 sales are only selling re-conditioned aircraft (to varying stages) at the moment. I believe they do have the rights to build new aircraft (if demand is there) and are looking at turbofan conversions and a possible six seater.

Or get it complete with updated avionics, turbofans instead of jets, an extra row of seats and a side door!

Jaba, that won't carry enough fuel to leave the circuit, anyway I'm not getting in anything I have to build myself!:ok:

Not that it's an option for me, but if you're a fresh PPL with only Warrior hours in your log book, can you go straight to training for a rating on that, or do you have to take steps up to such an aircraft?

From the L-39C ad:

Only 115 hours since factory overhaul! Maintained and flown by top notch ex-Hungarian AF pilot and mechanic, this plane will be delivered squawk free.

Transponder not working then...

Could be the twin engine thing is the appeal...??? Another donk to get you further away from the airport to the crash site.

Paris sure looks nice , but how about the Magister.? (Fouga, not Miles)
2 up, 2 donks and smaller. Few of them around for sale ,too.

Trouble is I dont think either the Paris or Magister have been on Oz rego...so would be first of type. Think big $$$$ s..Do you have access to a bank vault.?
Does being rego'd / accepted in US or Canada help.. remembering that Oz air is uniquely regulated, being very special in the global scheme of things.

A Magister was operated in Na Zilan for a while but they broke it when it fell into the water, wrongly.

Nothing stopping you; it's below 5700 KG so all you need is a PPL. It is a turbine, so you do need a type rating, but that can be arranged through training.

Flying something like this you would probably want an instrument rating, but it is not required.

Isn't there something about needing to be IFR for 250 knots plus?

That might be in the US if I'm wrong.

baswell

You also need to be IFR at the flight levels turbines are most efficient. But you can stay low (and possibly slow) and be legal, right?

I know someone who first got their PC-12 type rating and is only now working on their PIFR. (All cross country training flights were IFR, just got the rating before PIFR)
