Howsit,

What's the best way I may go about finding annual statistics on historical and future forecasts of the passenger and freight traffic demand for given IATA airlines ?

In particular, I want to compare the circumstances for given flag carriers prior to and following the onset of open skies in specific markets.

NB - I don't have access to the Airline Industry Forecast, WATS and Carrier Tracker services provided (at a cost) by IATA.

Thanks

You can get very good statistics for international flights to/from the US.

http://www.transtats.bts.gov/DL_SelectFields.asp?Table_ID=261&DB_Short_Name=Air Carriers

Contents (http://ostpxweb.dot.gov/aviation/usstatreport.htm)

These are monthly & go back a number of years. Have a play around and you should pick it up. You can download into an excel spreadsheet. One word of warning - actual not planned sectors are shown so a flight to/from Bangor is likely to be a diversion.

The CAA also publishes statistics to/from the UK although with less detail (no freight by sector)

UK Airport Statistics | Aviation Intelligence | About the CAA (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=80&pagetype=88&pageid=3&sglid=3)

You can search for other countries on google, though not all countries are comprehensive.

Also, you may find Chris Tarry's article towards the end of Airline Business each month useful.

Let me know if you have any detailed questions.

Forecasting is altogether more difficult. Boeing & Airbus publish forecasts but not by airline.
