Hi,

I’m looking for current info for an upcoming trip to Myanmar, mainly Yangon and Naypyidaw. FBO’s, Security, Hotels, local procedures etc.

Any info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

We been using WAH WAH. Super service throughout the country.

Country is nice and safe and hotels good. In case you like the spicy food take Tabasco with. Food is not like in Thailand...400 years under British rule leaves the marks....

Would recommend the Sedona or the Chatrium Hotel in Yangon.
Both are nice and up to international standards.
Many air crew stay in the Trader's Hotel in downtown, but the surroundings are not so nice.

And if you say mainly Yangon and Nawpyidaw, be aware that airports other than those maybe lacking equipment in many kinds of way.

For example Heho (Inle Lake) has no lighting, Bagan (Nyaung-Oo) has lighting but it is home-made and so dim you can't spot it 5 miles out.
Most do have just a NDB as the only approach aid, and you will get steady indications towards that only if established on final approach. Hope you are GPS equipped ;)

Security is not a concern as long as you don't go where the ethnic minorities fight againt the army (close to the Thai and Chinese borders).
Malaria is virtually nonexistant in the big cities.

If you have time in Yangon be sure to visit the Shwe Dagon pagoda.
