I would have thought Sir Gordon (`Bill`) Taylor GC would have been worthy of being included. Maybe he will be in the next list

His expeditionary flights across the Pacific are well documented.. Then there was his extrordinary bravery on 15 May 1935 when during a Southern Cross flight across the Tasman the exhaust manifold of the centre engine broke and severely damaged the right engine propeller. Taylor climbed out on the strut and transferred oil to the remaining engine on six occasions. For this feat he was awarded the George Cross.

Wasn't the George Cross first introduced some time in WW2?

Wasn't the George Cross first introduced some time in WW2?

Yes. It was retrospectively awarded to holders of the Empire Gallantry Medal, including Sir Gordon Taylor.
