Interesting 1st hand piece by one who knows.
BBC News - The perils of flying with a wheelchair (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19365786)

Can anyone can identify "... a certain national airline ..." that he refers to? Guess the Beeb don't want to court trouble and he does say that they have changed their policy.

The last paragraph is particularly important for airport 'customer service' managers to read.

In the EU it is the airports responsibility to handle any Passenger with Reduced Mobility from the arrival at the airport to the aircraft door and v.v.

Airlines responsibilities lie with the acceptance of PRMs and their mobility equipment, and care on board the aircraft. Not all take their obligations seriously. Pity.
