Does anyone have experience with the LOM PAHA engines?

Not that I would have an answer, but could it be you actually meant "LOM PRAHA" ?

yes Jan, indeed. Thank you for the observation, I edited the title in the meanwhile.

XLC, I have not had much personal experience, but my aircraft is parked at the hangar of a maintenance facility specialising in overhaul of all Czech engines, and I can ask the owner. What engine model are you interested in and what would you like to know?

Thank you.

In general how are those engines running? Typical issues, weaknesses, ... .
Am curious about the M 332C or maybe also the M 332 AK.

XLC, I had a conversation as promised, and was told that M332 has no inherent problems one should be wary of, except the usual precautions applicable to all supercharged engines. In terms of general features, one should be aware of its substantially different effect on weight and balance, as it is narrower and longer than Lycomings/Continentals. M332 is a low-compression engine and is approved for mogas. The M332C modification has an automatic mixture adjustment. TBO is 2000 hours. There are relatively few shops that would overhaul them, but both LOM Praha itself and W Motor Service (the shop where I am based) are alive and well and have no intention of discontinuing their services.

I am think of buying a aircraft with a MK337AK and am worried about support availability in the US. Is there service in the states or does one have to rely on oversea support? Does factory still manufacture these engines or just parts and overhauls?
Any info would be appreciated.

Ultranomad, I have a new Walter Mikron III, which I will be installing in my homebuild project soon. Contact with the the manufacturer, Parma Technik, is unmanageably slow and unreliable and I'm after information about the engine which does not seem to be available in the installation or engine manuals. Would the facility where you're based be able to help?

Koblenzer, M337 is officially considered in production, but to the best of my knowledge, all demand, even for parts, is satisfied from "new old stock", the reserves being vast. The facility I am at has about a dozen assembled engines sitting on pallets, plus a stockpile of various loose parts.
No data on US service, sorry.

Whirldwind, please check your messages.

Matt, some years ago there was a US distributor LOM engines but I understand they closed shop. They are interesting, probably the best of the inverted types, but I would not own one in the US with the expectation of simple parts or technical support.

Last week I was in Prague and visited the large aviation museum there. A fantastic place with a lot of LOM powered aircraft among the exhibits. It made me want a Zlin!
