Its pouring rain outside, cold as hell and nothing good on TV so i thought I'd curl up with a good ebook on my iPad, or in this case the CASA MOS for airports.

The section on runway distance markings had confused me.

Currently we have the fixed distance marker such as this.

The MOS states that all airports must move to this.

True/False? Whats the difference, they seem to provide the same info.

Also whill CASA be implimenting the enhanced holding point centreline markings. ie yelo stripes either side of the taxiway centreline for the 150m leading up to a holding point.

The FAA don't have it quite right either. MOS is pretty clear on the requirement and the timetable for implementation. Basically just an extra few pairs of distance markers going in on the longer runways. No biggy.Look for more airports to need wig wags at the HP's by 2014 too.
