hi

i have a Swiss JAA PPL license. i would like to go flying GA/VFR in brazil while there on vacation end of 2012. as i gathered in this thread [0] i don't have to convert or otherwise announce my license to the brazilian ANAC. true?

i will be in the region of Fortaleza. any tips on Aeroclubes / airfields or renting places?

Fortaleza seems to have two aeroclubes, both without an operable website.

greetings
dom.

Solaria,

Chances of you renting a plane in the air club and flying solo is zero. Only Anac license to fly a brazilian tail number. (There are other ways, but they do not apply in your case).

If you pay for the flying hour, they may put an instructor to fly you around in a sightseeing flight.

You flying solo a brazilian registered plane? Forget it. Sorry to say.

Good luck and all the best,

Sydy

You could try to convalidate your license with the local civil aviation authority, ANAC, but be prepared for a lot of red tape and give yourself plenty of time. Renting an airplane from the Air Club would pose another problem concerning flying with an instructor until you show proficiency on the airplane in question and also get to know the local area.Hope this helps.
Enjoy your time in Fortaleza!:ok:
