Can anybody give any pointers on the RAF Belvedere or Whirlwind helicopters that were replaced by the PUMA HC1 in the late 60's early 70's.

I have tried the RAF historical branch but had no reply, also I can't find anything on the WWW. Any body got any info or pics.

I need it for a small history intro on a lecture regarding the PUMA.

Hi, you might want to try the Operational Studies Dept. at RAFC Cranwell...you might even find some spec aircrew types there that have flown the types you mention!!!

Try Bruce James at RAFM Cosford, who is an ex-jellywopter mate on Whirlwinds, he talks about them in bleedin part numbers.. :)

Or Peter Elliott at RAFM Hendon, who is in charge of the archive bits

Well I'll admit to training on them.

I might be very sad, but I think the ac museum at Baginton Airport (Coventry) has a Whirlwind on display and might be able to help you with more info.
