I would like to know the requirement to be R-NAV approved, using 2 GPS (GNS 430) on a "N" registered aircraft ? What are the views of the FAA on that ?
Specifically, I would like to know if you need a GPS mode flag on your HSI ?

Was just told by our radio tech that a separate annunciator indicator would be OK...but of course an indication on the HSI would be more convenient. Enjoy those GNS430's, they (and the slightly larger 530) are certainly nice kit.

Thank you 411-A

The Garmin kit is excellent, and make you feel definitely more comfortable when you have to shoot NDB approach in IMC with hills around ...
It just turns a Seneca cockpit in an airliner office ;) !
The next airplane I may fly, will probably be equipped with a combination of 430 & 530 . I jus can't wait to fly it !

Cheers

King was caught with their collective pants around their ankles when the 430/530 was introduced. Look for the "new" King equalivent shortly...just had a preview....superb. By the way, the 430/530 are RNP-5 approved....good for fast jets as well.
