Interesting article I stumbled upon. A learjet hit some trees while conducting an approach, and the investigation showed that the approach did not meet the obstacle clearance requirements.

What is mind blowing is that no other aircraft during those 5 days clipped any of those tree tops or did report it to the faa.

Trees have a habit of growing!

Also, at night and in moderate rain, an illusion in the visual segment means that the pilot may get an impression he's flying higher, so a natural tendancy is to go low. Particularly on an aircraft with a highly sloped windsheils such as a Learjet.

Read the article the other day.
Really surprised this did not make anymore noise within the community.

I had an experience in Alaska where the trees were much closer than they should have been.

Glad to see that AIN published the story on the front page.
