Time is tight before I travel abroad and I have promised my Dad that I will help rebuild his PC, so please excuse my leaning on fellow C/I&T PPRuNers instead of doing my own research on this occasion.

Included in the rebuild will be a new CD/DVD burner.

Recommendations, please, that I can reliably order from the South American River dot com or other reliable and fast-to-dispatch suppliers. Reliability and range of formats (read and write) are the top criteria, followed by dependable burning speed and price.

TVM.

It might be worth dong a bit of future proofing with a Blu-ray burner. Cost £60-70.

I've got 6 CD / DVD burners at the moment, in 3 systems - 1 Pioneer, 2 Sony and 3 LG. Subjectively, the best performers are the LGs (as in the one's that I seem to end up using for most tasks), and they are also the cheapest.

I always stick two DVD drives, of different brands, in a tower case. Various reasons, but I can almost always achieve the desired result.

Thanks, both.
