If can have help with the below please , and how do you come to the answer? eg is there a rule for a particular question like this, do you find the Great Circle track on a particular side? or? ..thanks! :O

You are operating on a Great Circle track between S 46 ° W 120 ° and S 46° W 160 ° . When crossing the W 140° longitude, the latitude indicated on your IRS would be?

A) on S 46°00'
B) IRS will not give you latitude readout
C) South of S 46°00' latitude
D) North of S 46° 00' latitude

C.

I'm sure there's a rule, but I just mentally pictured a globe and drew a great circle on it.

...still single

Great circle always curves away from the equator -curves to the south in the southern hemisphere and to the north in the northern hemisphere.

I think what they are testing that that circles described as constant latitude are not great circles unless they are on the equator.

Ans : C

Answer C - In the Southern Hemisphere, the great circle track will 'bow' towards the South pole. :ok:
