I have a new machine with XP. Everything seems nicely set up except: When I try to enable the fax, via Control Panel, I am asked for the original CD, but my XP was pre-loaded, so no CD.
I have tried MS support which suggests that I look for i386 in Windows. It doesn't work.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any fixes out there?

You are talking about XP and ME...which one do you have...and if XP, is it Pro or Home,
anyway...have a look here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http%3a%2f%2fsupport.microsoft.com/common/canned.aspx%3fR%3dd%26H%3dWindows%2bXP%2bKB%2bArticles%2bAbo ut%2bPrinting%2band%2bFax%26LL%3dkbwinxpsearch%26Sz%3d(kbpri nt%2bor%2bkbfax)) and you may find the help you need

Sorry about the silly typo. XP it is. Neither Microsoft nor Advent have been any help, sadly.

Microsoft makes it simple for themselves. They sell OEM version certificates and now they are not responsible anymore (only for collecting money of course).

Your distributor is the one who should help you.

Now, there is a way of getting help. Find here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com/directory/directory/oemdirectory.asp) a list of the OEM helplines or get help straight from Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?LN=EN-GB) in the UK.
