Recently saw the Tacho in my 1965 Cessna P206A drop to nothing.

Engine is a Continental IO-520a - rung up my LAME and he told me ether a faulty cable or cable disconnected.

I'm going to have a good look under the hood tomorrow but does anyone know exactly what i should be looking for? Any advice or information?

He said it was a mechanical cable that's connected to the back of the engine and runs to the back of the instrument panel. But I'm not 100% sure.

It's been several years since I worked on a 520 but I think you'll find the tachometer cable is attached to the rear case, just aft of the oil filter. The outer flexible metal conduit is about 3/8" diameter. You'll probably find that the actual drive cable is broken but it is possible that the cable has become disconnected at one end or the other.
