Do these pilots exist?

Biman Bangladesh are looking for 777 F/Os with 3000TT, 2000hrs as an F/O and 800hrs on type, for a 6 month contract in Bangladesh, who are current within the last 90 days!

Is there anyone out there with this experience who will take this offer? How is anyone supposed to get a break into the industry when airlines are looking for rated guys for 6 month contracts? And with all due respect to Bangladesh, but it's not like this position is being offered in Paris!

you're so right man. I ask to myself a slightly different question everytime I use to find a post like that one, Is there any professional pilot with a lot of hours at his back accepting a propose like that? because I don't really think so and even I believe so a pilot with this requirements could accept a contract like this on, just a wannabies like us could but not a professional pilot. It's so unfair!!

I am sure they know very well what they are doing and expect they will get quite a few applications. Air india, who operate 777s are in serious trouble, staff have not been paid for quite some time due to financial problems. I am sure any Air India 777 FO or CN could ask and very easily get 6 months off without pay and get a paying job during that time, stay current etc. Kingfisher has also just reduced their fleet, many 33o rated guys will be looking for jobs. Yeah its not 777 rated but the Biman will try to get 777 guys first as saves them money.

So to answer your question, yes there are pilots for these jobs.

Yes, people like that exist and yes, I'm sure plenty of people will apply. The best thing about aviation is in fact contracting. You might not think so, but even though Bangladesh doesn't sound apealing, there is much more to it than just the location. For example... Money! And to give you an even better example, an unlicensed mechanics/avionics fitter can earn more money on the contract than an FO working full time for an airline. Licensed maintenance staff on a contract more than full time captains. That might give a picture of what a pilot salary on a contract might be...

Not unlike the CTC sorts of goings on with summer contracts and hold pools.

It is easy to look at aviation with rose tinted glasses and think that everyone is in it to have a career and work their way up the ladder. That would be naive.

There are many people who have other jobs or businesses and fly as a part time endeavour. Others have military pensions to fall back on or other sources of income which enables them to take these sorts of contracts just to keep their hand in and remain current. Many older retired captains from big airlines go back to sit in the LHS flying TPs just for the fun of it using the relatively low level of pay as a pension top up or to put diesel in the car.

They either have worked for the company or they know someone within the company.

Remember that this is an agency recruiting on behalf of the company.
That means the airline operator wants to see if the agency can fill the position before they have to recruit themselves (which means being realist).

Remember there about 300 pilots chancing 1 real flying pilot these days.
