View Full Version : Monrovia v Freetown?

I need to make a refuelling stopover at either Monrovia or Freetown. I will be time critical to make the next destination before the airport closes, so if I get messed around by the fuellers I could end up being forced to stay the night.

Can anybody with recent experience give me an idea which has most efficient handling, and which would be preferable/safest for an enforced night stop?

Both places are good for refuelling. I reckon Monrovia would be better. Just don't go to Conakry, they take ages to refuel.

Both airports are open 24hrs a day, Roberts has an ILS where as Freetown only has a VOR approach with DME not working.

Is the ILS operative, any idea who maintains it, and if it is flight inspected regularly?

Thanks for the info. I'll go to Monrovia.

I'm definitely not going to Conakry again - their fees are outrageous.
