At the Knutsford Town Council offices we have a picture on the wall the commerates the airborne troops who trained in Tatton Park in World War 2. https://picasaweb.google.com/111271033223151768768/KnutsfordCouncilAirborneCommerativePicture?authkey=Gv1sRgCPX Ys7Xm3OmoMQ

It is very faded and I am looking for a contact who maybe able to help in getting a replacement.

It says :-

To commerate all ranks of

2 (Parachute) commando
11 Special Air Service battalion
1 Parachute battalion
1 battalion the Parachute regiment

Who trained in this area and who served with honour and distinction in many theatres of war from 1940 to 1945.

It also has 2 crests at the top which are now completetly faded but the outline of one shows on an open parachute with wings either side, the other sadly is too badly faded for me to make out an details.

Please PM me with any contact details.

All advise gratefully recieved!

I don't know if this will help
This I would think is your best bet

The Paras - Points of Contact (http://www.theparas.co.uk/poc.html)

Failing that

The British Airborne Forces Club - Welcome (http://www.thebritishairborneforcesclub.co.uk/forums/content.php?1-1-home)

The Parachute Regiment - British Army Website (http://www.army.mod.uk/infantry/regiments/23304.aspx)

The Paras - Links (http://www.theparas.co.uk/Links.html)

Failing those register and ask on

ARRSE - The Army Rumour Service (ARRSE) (http://www.arrse.co.uk/)

When I first read the title of this thread I thought, blooming eck, I've heard of "flying doctors", but "airborne vets".....

Anyway, well done to the OP for trying to maintain/refurbish part of our national heritage!! Best of luck with your efforts.
