Greetings

I'm casting around for someone, equally crazy, who might also be interested in sharing the adventure - and cost - of buying some former eastern-bloc aeronautical heritage and flying it all the way back here.
Something not-too-thirsty like a Wilga (http://www.buyplanesforsale.com/aircraft/airplanes/1980-pzl-104-wilga/1602/) or a Zlin Z-142 (http://www.planecheck.com/index.asp?ent=da&id=8515&cor=y). Or, if we found a few other tragics (preferably one with LAME qualifications), we could even entertain a beastly Antanov An-2 (http://www.buyplanesforsale.com/aircraft/airplanes/1967-an2-best-big-biplane-in-world/109/).
Interested?

I have heard that the Colt has a desperate thirst for both fuel and oil. :ugh:

A mate of mine once worked at Shannon,in the 70's,and he reckoned an Antonov 2 would appear, presumably from Russia,land,re-fuel and then take off again for, presumably Cuba.
Never any volunteers to go for a jolly on it though.

You must be a masochist wanting to fly an Antonov or a Wilga to Australia then go through the pain and frustration of putting in on the Australian register.

I suspect there may be a Antonov AN-2 and a Wilga for sale in Queensland. Barry Hempel had an AN-2 at Archerfield and there was a Wilga at Mareeba that could be for sale.

Go to Zuccoli's hangar at Toowoomba airport, last hangar on the western end. Those guys may know what Russian and/or ex military aircraft are for sale.
