Air Timor has died a natural death it seems, no longer using the SAAB340's as they were no match against the Jet aircraft.

However, it seems they are rebuilding and obtaining Jet aircraft to serve PErth and Bali...

Cue Airnorth fare rise:*

Not enough capital for Air Timor I suspect plus charter from Silkair can't have been cheap

Saw the Vincent 146 in Darwin the other day. Wonder if Vincent's pockets are deep enough to replace the Saab 340 with the 146?

I don't understand why Airnorth don't tart up a new 170 in Timor air colours.

Everyone wins, and Timor gets it's own national airline (that the population can't afford to fly on anyway).

The Saab 340 operation was always doomed to fail.

I believe the Airnorth 170 route is the most expensive RPT route per NM in the world.

It would have to be a money spinner for them!

I believe the Airnorth 170 route is the most expensive RPT route per NM in the world.

That distinction was held for a long time by the Wellington - Blenheim route in NZ.

There is also the other operator Timor Air. The island market is too small and too poor to have 2 national airlines based in Dili IMO. Airnorth could repaint an E70 as one is all white ATM or it could be one side Air North colours other side Air Timor.
