I was under the impression it had been acquired by Air Atlanta Icelandic.

The new owner has not yet been disclosed...but rumor has it that Cargolux was very interested, as was AAI.

Former collegue of mine claims a group around Cargolux wants BBC to start feeder and new routes for CX mainline?! Sounds bull to me to be honest.
It is probably going to be bought by Swiftair for the aircraft and contracts and to get rid of a competitor.

Think for a minute and tell me what value would CV or AAI see in BlueBird? Contracts? You can get them anyway. AOC? Why they would need it? Traffic rights? There are none. And no LHR slots either. No its own network. And nobody is interested about 733 and 734 freighters any longer - you can get them any day.

They are nice airline but there is little to no value in buying them for heavy metal players. Standalone investor? Maybe.

An established carrier can make use of an Icelandic AOC to create a lower cost affiliate, with a maybe different fleet and certainly different conditions for the crews and employees. This happens all the time and I guess this is what is going to happen with Bluebird.
That is the value of BBD, plus unlimited traffic rights to China by the way.

Icelandic AOC is EUR 300k in cost and 3-4 month, and you have a clear one with no liabilities and in shape and form you like. And AAI have their own anyway.
Who needs traffic rights between Iceland and China?

Weren't they once about to get the b747.400erf? What happened to that? An airline can not survive with only a couple of 737 freighters. Way too much overhead costs. They need at least 10 airframes to be able to stay in business. What if they won't find a suitable buyer? Over and out like for BMI baby?

Does anyone know more about who bought the Icelandic Blues?

Is BBD still up for sale, or did someone really buy it?

A recent article in an Icelandic newspaper mentioned that a sale is imminent...
