Good morning history buff's

I happened to come across a ex mil type place in my business travels, whose address is The Old Rocket site, nera to Bawtry, was this place ever active, or was it a training site for some long past secret something or other?

It was RAF Misson, a Bloodhound SAM site in the early 60s, not sure when it opened or closed. As XQ suggests it covered Finningley & other V-bomber bases.

Misson was also the "target" for the bomb aimers school @ Leconfield. It was MOD property until 1993 although the main "site" itself was used by an MOD surplus company for many years before that.

Not much info on RAF Misson, but here is a map showing it, and similar units:

Thank you all for that Info,

The site I think is now owned by a set of brothers called Jackson, they buy and sell worldwide ex mil surplus kit, and currently have some stuff which most of us have never , ever seen on any road's, also some of those humongeouse Rooshian missile carriers, along with a huge selection of 50's 60's and later tanks , just right for uncle Yasser, or Saddam, the answers you all gave, now explain the peri road with many round concrete pad's I thought these were put there for some sort of Heli training, but no doubt they were for the Bloodhound's. Also on this site are a pair of Welland jet engines, that are said to have been in the Meteor that broke some sort of speed record, but I could find out nothing else about that.
