Hello,

http://www.flysynergy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Queens-Jubillee-Flypast-RAT.pdf

Where might be the best place to watch this from? I'd rather not fight my way into Windsor itself. Maybe the Hog's Back just west of Guildford? Does anyone have any specific flypast timings further to that in the AIC?

Thank you.

No idea of exact timings but I'm thinking of having breakfast in Chichester then walking up to the Trundle (just north of Goodwood) and hopefully see the Typhoon flypast on the way there, then the main formation from the top of the hill...

Then walk back to Chi for beer, late lunch and possibly, or so I'm threatened with, the Champions League...

I believe it's due overhead the castle at 1200 local.

AFAIK, the flypast will approach from the direction of the Long Walk.

The Mall flypasts usually formate on track from many miles out, so I would expect the same to apply on Saturday, it that helps with deciding on a viewpoint.

Just been past Yeovilton and there are lots of Hawks (black) parked on the south side.

Are these involved?

These 32 are from Valley and Leeming, and are forming the "EIIR" part of the flypast.

Sounds as if it will be brilliant - wish I could be there.

Enjoy you lucky so & sos!

I remember the Hunters from 229 OCU at Chivenor doing the EIIR display in 1977 for the silver jubilee.
I seem to recall 36 aircraft in that display.

Typhoon 9 ship over the castle at 1100local. Everyone else over the park as per the NOTAM. LOA long walk.

Haven't a clue

And wouldn't it have been nice to have the Vulcan in there?

And where is the Voyager?

Voyager was parked at Prestwick today.@

So, just to reiterate for the hard of thinking, a 9 ship Typhoon at 11.00 local, then empty space for 65mins and then the main flypast between 12.05- 12.26 local ? :8

Having re-read my post I wanted to state that I was asking a question ;)

then the main flypast between 12.05-12.26 local ?

Well so to speak.

Obviously those are timings at different points along the route, including time to form up and hold.

The RAF, Army and Royal Navy don't have enough aircraft between them to fill the sky for 21 minutes in line astern. :O

Talking to not enough machines ... the Hawks that make up the E II R - the 'E' and 'R' are 6 machines 'tall' but the 'II' is only 3. When written or printed , the 'II' is always shown as the same height as the E+R. Another six Hawks needed?

SpringHeeledJack

Just out of curiosity why is the Typhoon 9-ship so far ahead of the main flypast ? Is there something ground based going on in between for an hour, or is it just an idiosyncratic plan ?

Perhaps the pilots are all former postmen ?

DaveReidUK = VERY GOOD!

Unfortunately, they diverted away from Hemel Hempstead - presume the low cloud - and saw nothing. I went over to see friends and saw nothing.
