What an auspicious start to a presidency! Completely drenched at his swearing-in ceremony, late for his flight, then struck by a thunderbolt from on high...

What's going to happen when he finally reports to Berlin?

If it is the doing of this character it shows poor aim.

Better he should aim at Merkel. :)

One should perhaps assume that 'Big G' voted for SoCosy?

(of couse, if he flew Air France, one might ask where the radar scanner was pointing..................)

I am surprised he even got airborne. Rumour has it he has insisted that his aircraft is fitted with two port wings, because he will not fly in anything with a right wing associated with it... :E

I'm afraid that you're all wrong.

From truth news outlet.

"News outlets are claiming that Hollande's plane was hit by lighting and accordingly had to return to Paris, this despite eye witness reports that after crossing the Rhine border, German 88mm flak guns opened up on the plane."

Careful reading of posts on this subject shows his aircraft was apparently hit by "lighting" or "lightening", neither of which seems particularly dangerous to me. Beams of light have negligible effect on a heavier-than-air machine, and any aeronautical engineer will confirm that reduction of its mass is generally beneficial. End of problem one would assume, although both examples do illustrate the potential for screwing up the intended meaning catastrophically, by sloppy attention to spelling ... ;)

To which the only possible answer can be (shrug) "C'est la vie!".

Alternatively (and this one's for KAG's enjoyment) "Je blâme les Anglais".

"Je blâme les Anglais".

..The front that contained the CB that struck the
aircraft did roll in from the British Isles didn't it?

Quite right, Slasher. And while we're at it, we should rename the forum "souffle des réacteurs". :p

P S. Got any Euros going cheap???

Yes, but the serial number begins with a "Y ". Payment up front, delivery in August - but that will be ok for your hols , eh ;)

PS That's a good reason to be outside your house tomorrow so you can ask the runners if they got any along with the torch.
