Mike Butler

Some Sad news out of Jacksons this afternoon.

Whilst the news is presently somewhat sparse, It appears that Mike Butler has been badly injured in a C-206 accident on take-off from Guari this morning. He is presently at POM General.

Thoughts are with Mike's family & friends.

I only meet Mike relatively recently but what an inspirational guy, and not just in Aviation circles.

I understand that he has no internal or head injuries but has quite a few broken bones. He is due to be medevaced to Aus tomorrow. Get well soon Mike.

Very sorry to hear that, and wishing Jeeves a speedy recovery. Considering he has over 20,000 hours in PNG and is still flying the bush in singles, he has done remarkably well.

Where is Jeeves being transferred to in Australia?

He must have 30 years living in PNG?

As for the pax all I know is what I saw on EMTV news tonight. It sounds as though there was a local family on board who were also brought in to POM.

The latest info from up north is that Mike is in CNS & in good hands

Post-Courier reported it as a BN2 (Sunbird Aviation) I think they operate a couple BN2Ts

Im on some R&R in Cns.I checked Cns base and the Cns private .No record of Jeeves.Can anyone confirm if hes here or Bne.

It was a Cessna 206 and I think he is in Townsville.He is alive Ok just busted spleen hip and other bones.
He is lucky that is for sure.

I have it on good authority he is in hospital on the Gold Coast.

Mike is in the Princess Alexandra hospital, Brisbane. I understand amongst other things he has a broken back but is able to move his arms and legs.

The news is not as good as originally thought. Mike is in an induced coma and is critical but stable and is in Brisbane.

This info came to me on the 19th via a mutual Wantok so the situation may have changed, hopefully for the better.

I just spoke to Jeeves via his bedside phone. He's is in the PA Hospital in Brisbane. He's conscious and sounds positive. He tells me he has 131 injuries... the sense of humour is as good as ever.
