On 5th May 1969 I started my training at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital. It seems like yesterday. C-P & Gordy - whatever you are celebrating, have a good time!

Actually it is much more of a US festival than a Mexican. In fact, in most places in Mexico if one asks about Cinco-de Mayo, you will receive a blank stare in return. They do have celebrations in Mexico for Cinco-de Mayo, but it is more family orientated, with parades and more celebrated with food, not booze.

So don't go to Mexico hoping to bar hop and drink a lot of tequila celebrating Cinco-de Mayo, as you'll be very disappointed.

Here is a link to an article that does a much better job of explaining this than I.

Cinco De Mayo Is A 100-Percent American Celebration, Says David Hayes-Bautista, UCLA Professor (VIDEO) (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/04/cinco-de-mayo-american-celebration_n_1478142.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk1%26pLid%3D158208)
